Spring Showers

by Apr 16, 2013Blog

Spring has finally sprung on the East Coast. The rains have come; this year’s spring break began with snow. I guess, better late than never. As a result the Cherry blossoms, as they do every year, are showing off around the tidal basin and Eleanor Roosevelt’s tulip gardens dot the Potomac river with brilliant displays of red.

Water is the key to this cycle of life here in DC, the rains refresh and awaken the spring foliage to thrive, bloom and astound. A warm shower does the same for many of us each morning. As we stand and let the warm water gently rouse our souls and waken our bodies, we begin the day refreshed and alert. For the children of Sahasra Deepika, a warm shower is a luxury that can not be counted on due to the unreliable service of an old and tired water heater. Thanks to the love and care of many who donated to Sahasra Deepika this quarter, we are closer to realizing our dream of installing a reliable, solar-powered water heater. The children of SDI are that much closer to being assured a warm, soothing and cleansing warm shower to begin their day, whether they are the 1st child in line or the last. And in a family of 60, that’s important!
